H. J. Anderegg was born 1947 in St. Gallen, Switzerland and grew up there. After an apprenticeship as a chemical laboratory assistant and the high school diploma he began his studies of mathematics and physics at the ETH Zurich, which he completed with a degree in mathematics.

Afterwards he worked for over thirty years in Europe, the USA and Asia as a computer specialist and manager in the areas of development, consulting and sales of scientific, technical and finance software.

H. J. Anderegg is married and father of two grown-up children.
